Touching the future is the 1st European NFC competition. It was organized in conjunction with the European Near Field Communication Developers Summit which was held on 18 April 2007 during WIMA 2007 at Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

Competition Process

  • Track B teams may send a preliminary proposal to the Organizing Committee between 5-19 February, to be considered to receive for an NFC development kit. (Note: Preliminary proposals shall be used only by track B teams, which would like to receive NFC kit.)
  • After proposals have been evaluated by the Organizing Committee, the selected Track B teams will receive NFC development kits.
  • All Final Proposals (Track A and B) shall be sent to the Organising Committee by 12 March at 1pm CET.
  • On 19 March, the Competition Committee will notify the 16 finalists, which will consist of the two best proposals in each of the four categories in both tracks, or eight per track.
  • Each finalist team will prepare a 10-minute presentation to be given on 18 April 2007 at WIMA.
    For Track A, the presentation must include a live demonstration.
    For Track B, the presentation may include up to three slides and/or a 3-minute (maximum) video.
  • The winners will be selected by the Jury, which includes academics, professionals and experts from the different business fields.
  • Travel costs of student team selected to the finals for track B (max 3 students/team) will be paid by the competition organisers.
  • Awards

    The awards will be handed out at the NFC Developer Summit, the 18th of April in Monaco.

  • Track A: “Best NFC Implementation of the Year 2007”
  • Track B: “Most Innovative NFC Proposal of the Year 2007”
  • In addition, the Jury will grant 4 special prizes in both tracks (10 Awards in Total).

    Note: Please protect your idea or innovation effectively, if necessary. In no event shall the NFC Forum and SmartTouch be liable for any damages and losses to the participants/competitors when participating in NFC competition.
